Peace, Justice, and Stewardship of Creation

The Mission Team of
Peace, Justice, and the Stewardship of Creation

The overall mission of this team is to support and advocate for the Church of the Crossroads peace, justice and stewardship of the creation issues at the community, state, national and global levels.

Church of the Crossroads is a consciously inclusive church open to all people regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or ethnic background. The church has historically concerned itself with issues of justice and peace and been in the forefront of social issues, assisting in the formation of labor unions and declaring itself a sanctuary during the Vietnam War. More recently the church has become actively involved in environmental issues, both locally and internationally, and has incorporated stewardship of the earth as a tenet in its Just Peace Covenant. It also initiated and maintains the establishment of a transition home open to women and children who are leaving conditions of domestic violence.

To act upon and accomplish this mission, the PJSC is organized in sub-groups with volunteer leaders.  The following is the list of the PJSC sub-groups:

Watada Lectures

The Watada Lectures is a biennial event recognizing Umematsu Watada’s concerns for social justice and peace and his love for introducing young people to the environment.  The lectures focus on one or more of these themes. The lectures are made possible through the generous support and encouragement of the Wurfel family.
