Nominations are being accepted for the Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Peacemaker Award
Sponsored by the Church of the Crossroads
This award is given annually to honor and recognize a deserving person or organization from Hawaii’s community. We invite nominations from the public.
The criteria for nomination and consideration are simple:
The person should be a Hawaii resident whose life and work exemplifies a lifelong concern and commitment to the ideals of peace and social justice for all, ideals for which Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., gave his life.
For more than 30 years, Church of the Crossroads has presented the Martin Luther King, Jr., Peacemaker Award to individuals and organizations whose work follows the example of Dr. King in actions promoting peace, justice, and equality. Recent honorees include the Institute for Human Services (IHS), a leader in services for the homeless; John Witeck, lifelong advocate of social justice and original founder of the Hawaii People’s Fund; and Patricia McManaman, attorney, community leader, and government executive.
Selection is based solely on the information provided in the supporting documents submitted by the person or organization nominating the individual or organization and
by the nominees themselves.
