Church of the Crossroads is pleased to announce this year's (2019) recipient of the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Peacemaker Award: The Institute for Human Services (IHS).

IHS began in 1978 by Father Claude DuTeil as the Peanut Butter Ministry and offered sandwiches, coffee, and compassion to homeless people in Honolulu. IHS built its first shelter in 1986, providing for 250 to 300 men, women and/or children per night.

In 1997, a second shelter for women and children opened on Kaaahi Street.
