Announcing the Call for Nominations for the 2023 Hawai'i Martin Luther King, Jr. Peacemaker Award

(HONOLULU, HI November 2, 2022) – Church of the Crossroads today announced the call for nominations for the 2023 Hawaiʻi Martin Luther King, Jr. Peacemaker Award.

The award is given annually to honor and recognize a deserving person or organization from Hawaii’s community. Nominations from the public are invited.

The person should be a Hawaiʻi resident whose life and work exemplifies a lifelong concern and commitment to the ideals of peace and social justice for all, ideals for which Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his life.

Selection is based solely on the information provided in the supporting documents submitted by the person or organization nominating the individual or organization and by the nominees themselves. Deadline for submitting nominations and supporting documents is December 12, 2022.

For more than 30 years, Church of the Crossroads has presented the Martin Luther King, Jr. Peacemaker Award to individuals and organizations whose work follows the example of Dr. King in actions promoting peace, justice, and equality.

Recent honorees include The Institute for Human Services (IHS), a leader in services for the homeless; Wally and Kay Inglis, founders of the Catholic Worker House and activists for the homeless; and Josie Howard, CEO of We Are Oceania (WAO) and advocate for the Pacific Islander community.
