Edith Laeha

“Church of the Crossroads gave her the sustenance she needed to be the loving wife, mother, school teacher, young widow; masters graduate, world traveler; and it's where her Best Friends were made and kept!!! Though she was a person of great action she was also one of a few key phrases that she believed the church emulated, such as: ‘GANBATTE’ - ‘go the distance; work hard with integrity’ …. ‘Be open minded’… and ‘Let go and Let God.’

She faced many hardships and challenges in her life. But it was her faith in God and her ability to trust that He would help her through the toughest of times that was at her core. The Church of the Crossroads was always where she felt she could let go and let God.”

Marita Nelson

“My sister, Dr. Marita Nelson, believed deeply that the church’s mission is centered in actively working for justice and peace. And so, she designated in her will a large sum to Church of the Crossroads be used in such programs and activities.

You know, to those who receive the benefits of what is willed to them it seems to be such a blessing. But consider what a blessing it was to Marita to know far in advance of her death that she was making an impact that would continue far into the future. And as administrator of her will, I am proud that my sister would choose to make such a contribution to a fairer and more peaceful world. She continues to lead the way! For me! For you!”
